John served in the Royal Navy for a decade before transitioning to the construction industry, where he remained until an illness necessitated his retirement in 2018. The following year, his condition deteriorated, leading to a diagnosis of complex PTSD in 2020. With his wife Mandy's unwavering support and assistance from Combat Stress, the Veterans' Mental Health Charity, John began to recover. His passion for dog welfare, sustainability, and the great outdoors, coupled with Mandy's support, inspired the creation of 'On Tha Moor', a business venture.

Mandy

Mandy served 12 years with the West Yorkshire Police before resigning in 2002 following the birth of her second son. As she supported John in his career and raised their children, With her love for animals, design, and the outdoors, Mandy is eager to collaborate with businesses that share her philosophy.

Laika

Laika, a 5-year-old black Labrador, reigns as the true master of both the house and business. He became part of the family shortly after John's illness and has provided unwavering support ever since. Having completed his initial Gun Dog Training, Laika serves as the Chief Treat Tester and relishes his time on the moors and in the forests surrounding Ilkley and the Dales.

Hazel

Little Hazel, a four-year-old cocker spaniel, became part of Mandy's family after being rehomed when her previous owners could no longer care for her. She quickly formed a bond with Laika. Hazel has now completed her initial Gun Dog Training and enjoys accompanying Laika across the moors and dales. 

Finally Meet Luna (the lunatic)

Luna, our three-year-old Belgian Shepherd mix, is quite the character, adoring her time spent chasing tennis balls across the garden. She's not only highly intelligent but also very affectionate.
